LASER RAYS IN SPACE
Satellite To Experiment (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE (California), Oct. 11. United States scientists on Friday launched a windmillshaped satellite designed to study the ionosphere and to experiment with laser rays in space for the first time. The 1161 b beacon ExplorerB was sent towards a 575-mile-high orbit in what scientists said would be the most extensive international space effort yet held by the United States.
