Blood Test Analyses (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, Oct. 11. A new device for the analysis of blood tests which may be of great importance in detecting concealed maladies, such as cancer in the early stages, has been constructed by two Swedish brothers, Dr. Gunar and Dr. Ingmar Jungner, says “The Times” Stockholm correspondent. The new apparatus, which is an improvement of an older machine invented by the two brothers, is capable of making up to 6000 analyses an hour. It can analyse three specimens of blood a minute and carry out 40 different tests on each of them. The apparatus is fully automatic. After the samples of blood have been fed into it on a conveyor belt they pass different stations where fixed amounts of blood are taken for analysis. The results are then stored in a computer which controls the process, considers the results, and automatically gives a transcript. The first device of this kind will be installed early next year at the Epidemic Hospital in Stockholm, where Dr. Ingmar Jungnqr is the chief physician at the clinical laboratory.
