Still Going To Tokyo

Although she had hoped to be among the spectators for the most exciting of the Olympic events, Miss Clara Green, of San Diego, California, will now consider herself lucky if she can just see the closing ceremony. “I could get tickets for the events I wanted to see, in San Diego, but I couldn’t be guaranteed accommodation by the time I decided to go,” Miss Green said in Christchurch. "I wasn’t allowed to have the tickets.”

She paid a brief visit to Christchurch, on her way to Tokyo. “Oh yes, I still want to get to Tokyo,” she smiled. Miss Green has been a statistician for the Naval Training Centre in San Diego for the last five years. Her work involved mainly record-keep-ing, she said. But she loves travelling, and as soon as she can save enough holidays and leave to make it worth while, she sets off for far places. “It’s just curiosity, mainly,” she added.
