BRIEF AND INNOCUOUS

5-Min Open Meeting The meeting of the board of control of the New Zealand Cricket Council held on Saturday must have been one of the most innocuous and briefest held by the board. After a short discussion on the danger of pitches being damaged by bowlers who had excessively long spikes on their boots and a report by Mr K. L. Sandford, the manager of the cricket team that undertook a world tour, the meeting went into committee. Apart from Mr Sandford's report and a suggestion which emanated from It by Mr I. M. Hamilton—that a Canadian team should be Invited to tour New Zealand and play against Minor Association teams—the board spent five minutes In open meeting discussing cricket matters. Mr Hamilton's suggestion, which he made Into a motion, was not seconded after Mr D. A. Colville said that members would like more time to study Mr Sandford’s report before coming to any conclusions.
