3-WEEK TOUR IN MALAYSIA

Badminton Team Leaves (N.Z. Press Association! AUCKLAND, Oct. 9. The New Zealand badminton team did not anticipate any troubles as the result of the political situation in Malaysia, said its manager. Mr H. Purser, as it left Whenuapai this morning for a three-week tour. He said the New Zealand federation had given him no specific instructions of warnings and he thought the tour would proceed without any difficulty. The eight-strong team, which includes three women players, will meet state teams in Malacca, Kuala Lumpur/ Ipoh, Alor Star, and Penang, besides Singapore. In Penang the New Zealanders will be coached by Eddie Chong, a former worldclass player. One team member, Richard Purser, will go on to England after the tour and may compete in the All-England championships.
