(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, October 4. Piper’s Son ran an outstanding trial for the Metropolitan when he brilliantly won the W.F.A. Colin Stephen Stakes dim). He came from last at the half-mile with a strong finishing run to win by three-quart-ers of a length from second favourite, the New Zealand-bred Summer Regent, with another Metropolitan candidate, River Seine (4-1), a short neck away third. . . Summer Regent, after racing to the front nearing the half mile fought back gamely to the straight but failed to hold Pipers Son.
