Pryor Captain In Last Rep. Game
(New Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND, October 2.
Auckland will be captained in its match against Barbarians at Eden Park tomorrow by A. Pryor to mark his retirement from regular play.
The Auckland coach, Mr R. Sorenson, said today that he and the regular captain, R. H. Graham, had agreed that Pryor should lead Auckland to top off a fine career which goes back 13 years to his first senior game. Pryor has represented New Zealand Maoris, North Island, Auckland and Bay of Plenty. The youthful Auckland team is given a fair chance of beating the star-studded Barbarians side, which is full of colourful, highly talented and experienced individuals. So experienced, in fact, that North Auckland’s P. F. H. Jones is the “baby,” with only 141 first-class games to his credit. Auckland may outclass the Barbarians in the back line, with its pacy line-up of P. Murdock, T. Tataurangi and R. Rangi. Barbarians. —W. F. McCormick; J. A. S. Mackenzie, P. F. Little, D. Panther; W.
