Red View Gallops Freely In Trial

“The Press” Special Service

PALMERSTON NORTH, September 29. There will be a small Awapuni team racing at Stratford on Saturday, with three runners, Red View, Tilly Light and Bagush engaged in the President’s Handicap. Red View won the race last year and he galloped freely in his semi-final trial today. Tilly Light and Bagush also acquitted themselves well, as did Justice Mac, which is engaged in the Robson Hack Handicap. Red View ran freely to complete seven furlongs on the plough in Imin 34sec, the last three in 40 2-ssec. He had something in reserve at the finish. Red View has not raced since the Wanganui meeting last month. He is fresh and could run prominently in the first leg on Saturday. He was a decisive winner of the race last year with 8-4. He will carry 7-11 on Saturday. Bagush left seven furlongs behind in Imin 38 3-ssec, the last three in 38 3-ssec. He went easily for the first halfmile. Bagush was a fair fourth in his last start at Otaki. so he will have to be respected in the President’s Handicap. Improved By Sprint Grand Coeur, which looks Improved by his sprint race on Saturday, left six furlongs behind in Imin 24sec, the last three in 41sec. He ran promisingly at Otaki and should be a prospect in the Waipukurau Cup next Tuesday. There was nothing between Akubra and Tilly Light at the finish of seven furlongs in Imin 33 2-ssec, the last three in 40 3-ssec. Akubra, which is engaged in the Te Kapua Hack Handicap at

Stratford, has been racing below his best, but he galloped well today. Tilly Light has not raced since the Grand National meeting, but he looks fit for the President’s Handicap at Stratford. He has a good record on this course. The Waipukurau Cup candidate, Alaska, strode easily over five furlongs in Imin 7 3- the last three in 40 4- He could have done better. Alaska ran a better race in his last start at Hastings and he may be on the verge of worth-while form. He could be a danger next Tuesday. Excelled Narbada, which will race at Waipukurau, was another to excel today. She took 48 4-ssec for half a mile, the last three furlongs in 36 l-ssec. She has done well since racing in the Gold Trail Stakes at Hastings and her prospects in the Hatuma Hack Handicap at Waipukurau look bright. Tuskar Rock and Justice Mac were doing their work particularly well at the finish of half a mile in 49sec,. the last three furlongs jh 36 l-ssec. Justice Mac looks fit for the Robson Hack Handicap at Stratford.
