KILLED BY BULLOCK
Labourer At Tomoana
(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS, Sept. 28. A bullock being driven up a cattle race to the killing floor at the Tomoana freezing works, Hastings, escaped from the race, crashed through the roof of a locker room below, and fatally injured a works employee this morning. He was: Roderick John Caulton, aged 51, married, with a family, of 1212 Jellicoe street, Hastings. He was a labourer at the works. The accident occurred about 10.15 a.m., and Mr Caulton was taken to the Hastings Memorial Hospital by the St. John Ambulance, suffering from extensive chest and leg injuries. He died shortly afterwards. The bullock, estimated to weigh about 10001 b, walked away after falling from the race and was later slaughtered.
