Hoon Hay Subdivision Provides 570 Sections

An area of 145 acres bounded by Halswell road and Hendersons road is to be opened for housing by the Ministry of Works. The block will be one of the biggest housing subdivisions in Christchurch, providing some 570 sections and a number of multi-unit flats.

Sites have already been set aside for four churches, a kindergarten, primary school, 10-acre recreation, reserve and shops. There will be 17 streets in the block, with a total length of more than three miles.

Sections will be made available to the public when the Ministry of Works existing Armitage block, off Harewood road, is filled and when several points concerning local body services are settled.
