MAJOR CRIMES
No Limit On Prosecution (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PRAGUE, September 25. A bill ruling out application of the Statute of Limitations on certain crimes was unanimously passed today by the Czechoslovakian National Assembly. The Government Bill deals with “crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity,” the Ceteka news agency reported. The Justice Minister, Dr. Alois Neuman, said while “all war criminals caught in our country or extradited ... are thoroughly and justifiably punished,” there was an “indulgfent attitude—and reluctance to apprehend war criminals ... in West Germany.” About 33,000 persons were prosecuted for war crimes in Czechoslovakia, he said, and 819 were sentenced to death and 817 to life imprisonment. In West Germany the 20year Statute of Limitations for murder committed before the capitulation of the Third Reich on May 9, comes into effect next May.
