The New Zealand-bred geHing Ziema had an easy w q over 10 furlongs in the PresiI dent’s Handicap at MorphetI ville yesterday. Ziema raced away to um h; two and a half lengths fr :n Brabham, with Nickel Shot i third. The gelding’s win streng- ■ thened him in favouritism for the South Australian Derby on October 10. ; Ziema (Summertime —Naj. mi) is a stable mate of yesterday's Moonee Valley Stakes winner, I'Orage Boy. They are trained by J. B. < . mings. a regular visitor to the New Zealand yearling sales. He also prepares Shady Street. Derby favourite before Ziema came into prominence. 1 Shady Street, winner of the Adelaide Guineas in Aur!ust, finished fast to be second in the welter yesterday, gj v . ing Cummings a strong hand in the Derby.
