TRIBUTE TO LANGFORD
Riders of the Geraldine Cup runners yesterday wore black armbands as a mark of respect to the memory of the former South Island jockey, B. J. Langford, who died in the North Island on Sunday. Langford rode several winners at Orari while he was living in the South Island. He won the Geraldine Cup on Botany in 1947 and on King’s Command in 1951. A group of South Island owners, trainers, and jockeys travelled north last evening and will attend the funeral today.
