WEST ARM ACCESS
3 Tenders Submitted (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Sept. 28. [ Three tenders for building public access facilities at West Arm, Lake Manapouri, were opened when tenders closed with the Bechtel Pacific Corporation in Invercargill at 10 a.m. today. The access facilities will be sited at West Arm to give visitors the opportunity of viewing Manapouri power scheme contracts. They consist of a shelter, toilet block and observation building, with connecting scenic tracks, and will be built high on the south shore of West Arm. The three tenders, all from Southland builders, were opened by Bechtel’s tender board—Messrs J. D. Blackburn, J. L. Manaut and J. L. Kessler—and will be viewed before a recommendation is made to the Ministry of Works. Since it is hoped that facilities will be built before the opening of the new tourist season, in NovemberDecember, there will be as little delay as possible in awarding a contract.
