“SHOCKING DRIVERS”
Fire Board Critical (N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 28. Brigade drivers came in for criticism at the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board meeting today. “Some of our drivers are shocking,” said the board chairman (Mr S. A. Gleadow). “Some don’t even know the elementals of smooth driving. It’s no wonder we have such heavy repair bills. “We even had one truck we had to put 16 new gear levers in.” The board was discussing accident damage to two fire engines. The board asked the Chief Fire Officer (Mr L. F. Wilson) to discuss drivertraining with his officers.
