Three Airmen Killed

Three British fleet air arm men were killed when their helicopter plunged into the sea off the coast of Malaya on Friday. A fourth man survived the crash. A Wessex anti-submarine helicopter of No. 815 Royal Navy Air Squadron from the aircraft carrier Centaur was exercising on Friday morning when a mechanical fault apparently developed and the machine crashed into the sea.

Wool Steady.—Melbourne woolbrokers report that of today’s offering of approximately 14,327 bales, 96 per cent were cleared. The market for merinos remained generally unchanged when compared with yesterday’s rates. —Melbourne, Sept. 22.
