WALLABIES PREPARE

Ways To Beat Springboks (N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY, Sept. 10. The Australian Rugby Union is taking unprecedented steps to strengthen its chances of beating South Africa next year, said the “Daily Mirror” today. Last night, it appointed Mr W. McLaughlin, chairman of the Australian selectors, convener of a special committee which will consider the best methods of preparing the Australian team. Its members will consist of Mr A. Roper, who coached Australia on its last three overseas tours, and the experienced Wallabies, J. Thornett, K. Catchpole, P. Johnson, J. Freedman and P. Crittle. The committee’s main concern will be to keep this season’s Wallabies together to provide the nucleus of the Australian test team.
