INDIANS IN CEYLON

Deportation Is Considered (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) COLOMBO About 30,000 Indians may have to leave Ceylon under a new law to be introduced by the Government shortly. These Indians, who hold Indian passports, are those who came to Ceylon before May 11, 1949. Under the amendment they would not be permitted to remain in Ceylon unless they were able to obtain resident visas from the Immigration Department. The action is being taken by the Government following a proposal made by the Prime Minister, Mrs Sirima Bandaranaike.
