FLYING TO AUST.
Count One, El Kayel "The Press” Special Service MATAMATA. September 8. Count One. one of New Zealand's top- milers, is to fly to Melbourne in about a week's time to contest the seven fur long Invitation Stakes at Flemington. It is hoped that L. G. Coles will ride him In the event. Originally, P. C. Alcock, the horse’s trainer, was to have made the trip, but with too many horses in training he has handed the horse over to the former New Zealander. H. H. Riley, who trains in Sydney. After the Invitation Stakes, Riley will fly Count One to Sydney where he will contest the Epsom Handicap, his main mission in Australia. Count One is not the easiest horse in a stable and recently injured the jockey, G. L. Willetts, so the horse’s regular attendant. E. C.. Holloway, the hurdles jockey, is to make the trip with him and stay with him while he is in Australia. On the same plane to Melbourne will be - Elkayel which was backed in a £20,000 double by New Zealanders at the week-end to win both the Melbourne and Caulfield Cups.
