MEMORIAL TREE PLANTED
An alder tree, given by the reserves department of the Christchurch City Council to the South Brighton Country Women’s Institute, was planted recently by the. president (Mr A. R. Gould) in memory of deceased members. It was planted in the Pleasant point Domain near the new South Brighton Community Centre, for which the C.W.L branch has raised more than £lOOO. A memorial plaque will be placed by the tree later, so that members will see it as they pass the tree on their way to meetings at the centre.
