BENEFIT RISES

Payment By November (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. All increases in social security benefits would be paid before the end of October, in spite of the large amount of preparation required, said the Minister of Social Security (Mr McKay) today. “It is proposed that age, widows, invalids, miners and orphans beneficiaries will receive the increase in a lump sum with the instalment due on October 27. “This will include the extra money calculated from September 9 to the expiration of current order books,” Mr McKay said. Beneficiaries due to get a normal renewal order book on September 29 would have the new rates incorporated. Superannuation beneficiaries would be paid their increase with the instalment on October 6. People on weekly unemployment, sickness and related emergency benefits would have the increase included in warrants being posted this week.
