WELLINGTON, September 7. Two young Wellington trampers who failed to return home as planned on Sunday night walked out of the Tararua ranges at 6.15 tonight. One of the youths, Ken Kelson, aged 18, said bad weather on Sunday afternoon altered their plans and they decided to stay overnight in the ranges.
“We had three hours of daylight left to -each the outside from a point not far in, but bad weather might have impeded our progress, so we stayed overnight in a hut,” he said. He said he and his companion, Allister Ashley, aged 18, were never lost or in danger.
