COURSE AT LINCOLN
Trainee Meat Inspectors (N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. About 200 additional meat inspectors have been recruited, and last week the first residential meat inspectors’ training college began at Lincoln College. This was announced today by the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Talboys). He said that with the ■ increasing world-wide awareness of the need for higher standards in meat hvgiene and the need to meet the requirements of the importing countries the Department of Agriculture and Lincoln College had collaborated in organising and running a 12week training course for inspectors. Lecturers were being provided both by the department and the college, the subjects taught including basic anatomy, pathology, and hygiene. The first course, which began on September 1, was being taken by 100 trainee meat inspectors, and it was proposed to give all new inspectors an opportunity of taking a similar course before they completed the standard twoyear training period.
