(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SCARBOROUGH, September 6. The Australian batsmen, W. M. Lawry and R. M. Cowper, hit centuries and added 179 in 120 minutes for the second wicket when the tourists began their last match in Britain yesterday.

In the one over bowled before bad light stopped play, T. N. Pearce’s XI scored two for no wicket in reply to Australia’s total of 400. It was Lawry’s fifth cen- , tury of the tour.
