Lawry, Cowper Hit 100s For Aust.
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SCARBOROUGH, September 6. The Australian batsmen, W. M. Lawry and R. M. Cowper, hit centuries and added 179 in 120 minutes for the second wicket when the tourists began their last match in Britain yesterday.
In the one over bowled before bad light stopped play, T. N. Pearce’s XI scored two for no wicket in reply to Australia’s total of 400. It was Lawry’s fifth cen- , tury of the tour. He batted for 240 minutes to score 121, ’ including 19 fours and one : six. Cowper was more im- j pressive, completing his century in 115 minutes before lunch. AUSTRALIA First Innings W. M.
