NEW SHELL FOR KAIAPOI CLUB

HPHE Cure Boating Club x has taken delivery of a new Best-and-Best four-oar shell and has on order a new Best-and-Best double scull pair-oar convertible, to be ready for the coming season. The four-oar shell is thought to be the first new Best-and-Best boat purchased by the club since its establishment in 1868. Made in Australia, the plywood shell is 44ft long by approximately 21 inches amidships. Special features are the

convertible rigging, which enables the bow'man and number two to row on either stroke or bow side, pitch adjustments on the oar swivels and seats fitted with continental type slide. The shell was landed at a cost of £387 15s plus customs duty of £B3. Other equipment owned by the club includes two plywood four-oar shells, two plywood pair-oar shells, one plywood single shell and new English oars and sculls to the value of £lBO.
