FOUR KIWIS IN SIDE TO PLAY HORNBY

Four Kiwis are included in the Otahuhu (Auckland) team to meet Hornby in the national Rothmans club final at the Show Grounds on Saturday.

The full-back, J. P. Ford, was a wing with the Kiwis in Britain in 1961-62; K. F. George toured Australia last year, and E. Wiggs and E. Moore played against France earlier this season.

In addition the captain. S. Yates, is a former New Zealand Maoris representative and the wing, R. F. Christian, this year played for North Island and was a reserve in the first test against France The young stand-off half, D. Cash, has been selected to attend the national training school at Rotorua. Otahuhu was formerly South Districts when Rugby League in Auckland was conducted under the district scheme. It is the defending New Zealand club champion, having defeated Linwood, 15-2. last year. It has retained the Auckland championship and reached the final by defeating Huntly South, the Waikato champion. The Otahuhu team will be selected from the following 16 players:— J. P. Ford. R. Walden, R. Johnson, R. F. Christian, H. Walters, D. Gore, D. Cash, T. Smith. A. Johnson, E. Wiggs. T Yates. S. Yates (captain). E. Moore. K. E. George, J. Gwynne. D. Everitt. Player Cautioned The Hornby prop, R. C. McKenzie, was cautioned by the Canterbury Rugby League board of control last evening. The matter was handled in committee but, because of business commitments in Greymouth, McKenzie could not appear before the board. A statement was later issued stating that the referee had ordered McKenzie from the field for arguing with him. Under questioning the! referee had stated that had : McKenzie not argued he, would not have been sent off.|

McKenzie received a similar caution last season.

Permission for the proposed Australian tour by the Christchurch Marist Club was refused by the New Zealand council. A letter from the council said that the policy of the council, confirmed at the last delegates’ meeting, was that club teams were not of a sufficiently high standard to represent the New Zealand Rugby League overseas. However, the letter stated that a football group would not be prevented from making a social visit to Australia. Gore Cup team players practice Show Grounds, Thursday, 7 p.m. —Advt.
