HELP FOR REFUGEES

£70,000 From Dominion (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Aug. 27. New Zealand will contribute £70,000 this year towards international refugee programmes. The Prime Minister (Mr Ho'.yoake) said in a prepared statement that this was the same amount as the Government gave last year. He said the United Nations Relief and Works Agency would receive £50,000 to help maintain more than one million Palestine refugees; £lO.OOO would go to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees: and £lO,OOO would go to the Inter-gov-ernmental Committee for European Migration for the resettlement for the European refugees who were victims of the two world wars.
