Profit Jumps To £62,306 The Evening Star Company, Ltd., Dunedin, lifted net profit by £12,013 to £62,306 in the yew -to June 30. The profit was reached after providing £4378 more for depreciation at £26,615 and £12,563 more for tax at £67,894. Directors have maintained the basic dividend at Is 6d (7J per cent) a £1 share and have added a bonus dividend of 6d, the total payout requiring £40,000. Last year there was a Centennial bonus of 9d a share. General reserve receives £20,000 and carry-forward is £37,807. The balance-sheet shows shareholders’ funds at £567,166 against £544,367 last year. Earning rate is 11.7 per cent (9.2 per cent last year). Current liabilities rose from £146,428 to £152,259 and current assets were up from £210,612 to £225,087. Fixed assets were down from £361,332 to £347,194 with an additional £97,739 progress payment on new plant.
