High Dress Honour For Mrs Profumo
(X Z P.A.-Keuteri LONDON. August 26, Fourteen months after the scandal which wrecked ha political career, Mr John Profumo, the former British War Minister, and his beautiful wife, Valene Hobson, a former actress, are quietly rebuilding their darkened lives.
Their days pass quickly in a quiet backwater in which their home is an anchor, though they still travel a good deal. They dote on their only son. David, who is nine. And they have retained, through the big crisis of their lives, a small circle of faithful friends.
Seldom in recent months has the searchlight of publicity been turned on them, but it brought the elegant Mrs Profumo into its beam a few days ago. The daughter of a naval commander, she later appeared in many films, and was named as one of Britain’s six best-dressed women. She shared this honour with the ballerina, Dame Margot Fonteyn.
