Wallabies Make 2 Changes In Backs
(Atio Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 26. Australia will field a full-strength side for the third test in Wellington on Saturday. Outplayed in the backs at Christchurch, the Australians have made two back line changes.
The star of last year’s tour of South Africa. B. J. Ellwood, who was not available for the first two tests because of a pulled muscle, has been selected as outside centre in place of R. Honan. The other back change is the replacement of the young wing, D. Grimmond, by J. S. Boyce. Grimmond made a good test debut at Christchurch, and it is a surprise that he has been dropped.
The decision has probably been made in favour of weight and experience at the experse of recent form.
The one change made in the forwards is the inclusion of the 27-year-old D. J. Shepherd, the only Victorian in the touring party, who replaces D. O’Neill as No. 8. The English-born Shepherd is the only test newcomer. He has represented Victoria since 1955 and captained his State this year. He toured South Africa last year but did not play in a test. An energetic loose forward, he weighs 15st and stands 6ft lin. The team is:— T. V. Casey; E. S. Boyce, R. J. Marks, B. Ellwood, J. S. Boyce; P. F. Hawthorne, K. Catchpole; D. Shepherd; G. Davis, R. Hemlng, P. C. Crittle, J. Guerassimoff; J. White, P. G. Johnson, J. E. Thornett (captain).
