NEW HEBRIDES HOSPITAL

193 Patients In Residence

Eighty-nine lepers and 104 sufferers from tuberculosis are at present being treated at the Melanesian Mission’s Godden Memorial Hospital in the New Hebrides.

These figures are quoted in a report received at the Christchurch headquarters of the New Zealand Lepers’ Trust Board from the matron of the hospital (Sister B. Pyatt), sister of the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. W. A. Pyatt). Sister Pyatt said that at least half the new cases- had been discovered as the result of planned leprosy surveys. She thanked the Leper Trust Board for its continued support of the leprosy campaign and for arranging adoptions.’
