C.M.T. Postponement Application Refused
An application by Logan Elliot (Mr M. J. Glue) to have ; his 14 weeks’ military training postponed was dismissed by the Military Service Postponement Committee yester day. Members of the committee i were Messrs W. K. L. Dougall (chairman), C. R. Thomas, H. F. Larsen, E. O. Edwards (Crown representative), and T. C. Currie (secretary).
Military training would be a personal hardship for Elliot and financially hard on his relatives, said Mr Glue. Elliot's wife was a full-time student at university and if Elliot was required to do military training in September and October it would affect his wife's examinations at that time, said Mr Glue. Mr Dougall said Elliot had been helped last year but the committee was not prepared to grant any further postponement. Robert Henry Norrlss, a fisherman, was granted 12 months’ postponement of his military training. He had household payments to keep up and he would not be able to get his present job back if he left it for 14 weeks, he said.
