CASHMERE SCHOOL
Extensions To
Library
Provision had been made in the 1964-65 draft education building programme for finance to extend the Cashmere High School library, the board of governors was told yesterday. Though planning would be done as soon as possible the extension was not of high priority because of the large number of new class-rooms which required attention, said a letter from the Education Department. The board agreed to supply white coats to science teachers for laboratory work. The headmaster (Mr T. H. McCombs) said individual schools could supply coats if the board approved. The staff was willing to do the laundering. he said. The board approved of a kiosk-type sub-station being erected by the M.E.D. in Barrington street, between the school entrance and the caretaker’s house. Mr McCombs said the M.E.D. was prepared to pay £25 towards erecting a screen In front of the sub-station. The name of the school could be put on the screen. Many persons had complained about being unable to find the school. Displaying the name In large letters would overcome the problem, he said.
