CARELESS DRIVING

Death Caused (N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, July 21. “You have caused damage that no-one on earth can ever remedy by your criminal act and by your reckless driving. You caused the death of your cousin,” Mr L. N. Ritchie, S.M., told a young man today who was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on two charges. He was disqualified from driving for four years.

Robert Kingi, aged 20. shed hand, was charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle on June 26 and with carelessly driving a motor vehicle, causing the death of E. Kingi, on June 26. For the accused, Mr A. J. Sheehan said that Kingi fully realised that but for his impulsive actions his 16-year-old cousin, to whom he was considerably attached, would be alive today.
