Gerrard, who has been selected to swim for New Zealand at ' Tokyo, feels like a fish out of water in Dunedin—he has no swimming baths in which to train. The old municipal baths have been closed down, and the Olympicsize Moana swimming pool is still not completed.

“I’m leaving for Auckland on Thursday,” he said today.
