Miss Truman Dropped

Miss C. C. Truman has been dropped from the official (British team to play in the i United States tennis championships next month because she objected to her partner, said the “Daily Herald" today. She refused to play with the 19-year-old Miss Virginia Wade, named by the Lawn Tennis Association as her partner, because the estab, lished players. Miss Deidre Catt and Mrs Ann Jones, were not available.
Miss Truman said: “I have nothing against Miss Wade personally—l don’t even know her.”
The L.T.A. said in a statement: “We decided to invite Miss Wade to accompany Miss Truman for valuable experience and in the interests of British tennis.”
Miss Wade, daughter of a Kent clergyman, said: “I didn’t know I was even nominated. No-one told me anything.”
