SUPER VClOs

Statement In House (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, July 21. The Royal Air Force will take three Super VC 10 airliners ordered by 8.0.A.C. in excess of its requirements, the Minister of Aviation (Mr Julian Amery) told the House of Commons today. He was making his longawaited statement on the VCIO order by 8.0.A.C. “These three aircraft will be needed to maintain our strategic air-lift capacity as existing transport aircraft cease to be operational,” he said. Mr Amery said work would continue as planned on 20 of the 32 Super VClOs ordered by 8.0.A.C. “Too Tortuous” After Mr Amery’s statement of Government policy, Labour’s spokesman on aviation, Mr Fred Lee, said: "Instead of this extremely tortuous recommendation it would have been far better had the Government agreed to purchase the 30 planes themselves and charter them out as needed until tiie route structure expanded, Boeings can be sold and the R.A.F. are ready to take more VClOs.”
