NURSING EXAM.

Re-Marking Sought

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 20. A reassessment and remarking of examination papers in the final professional State examination in nursing held in June, will be requested by the Auckland Hospital Board. The board tonight received a report from its superintend-ent-in-chief, Dr. W. E. Henley, after an investigation into the “unprecedented art of failure of Auckland-trained nurses in the examination” by its board of examiners in nursing. Discussion on the report was held in committee. The Auckland board of examiners was unanimous in the opinion on statistical grounds that some “unrecognised conscious or subconscious variable was introduced into the marking of the papers.” It asked that the examination results, with comparisons in recent years, be submitted to the Government Statistician for comment and a report.
