Warships In Spain
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MADRID, July 19. Spanish naval ministry officials said yesterday they believe it “more than an even chance” that Spain would renew with the British Government its interrupted negotiations over assistance in modernising the Spanish Navy. The Spanish Government broke off talks two weeks ago, blaming hostile statements from the British Labour leader, Mr Harold Wilson. Subsequently, the official said, the friendly attitude of the British Government on the matter and the fact that Britain is Spain’s best export market in Europe, has caused second thoughts in Madrid.
