POTTERY CONTEST

Trip To U.S. For Winner Prizes worth more than £lOOO will be presented by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) to the winners of an industrial design contest at Wellington on August 25. The contest, the sixth sponsored by Crown Lynn Potteries, Auckland, is for dinner set designs suitable for export, especially to Australia and North America. Record entries are expected. Since the contest was announced last month entries have been received from all parts of the country, and extra forms have been distributed to supplement the 10,000 initially sent out. The main prize is £4OO. T.E.A.L. has given an additional prize, a return air trip to the United States, for the best export design with a New Zealand flavour. The trip will be in a T.E.A.L. DCS airliner after the opening of the Auckland International Airport at Mangere next year. Entries for the contest dose at Crown Lynn Potteries, New Lynn, Auckland, on July 31.
