FINE AFTER FROST
Sunny Winter’s Day After a frost of 6 degrees yesterday morning, Christchurch enjoyed a fine winter’s day with five and three-quar-ter hours of bright sunshine recorded at the airport. The effect of the sun was all the better felt as there was little wind.
The temperature gauge on the Government Life building in the Square recorded 55 degrees at 4 p.m., at the airport the temperature was at a maximum of 52 degrees from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Snow, which fell on the Main Divide and the Canterbury foothills on Saturday remained yesterday, and the several hundred persons who went on a railway excursion to Arthur’s Pass were able to make the most of It.
