REACTION TO BUDGET

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 7.

The farmer did not need any incentive to increase production. He needed more opportunities and a better return on invested capital, the chairman of the dairy section of Auckland Federated Farmers (Mr W. Wesley) said today. The farmer was trying to meet today’s costs while he was receiving the prices ruling 12 years ago, he said. “Ask any farmer what the recent Budget did for him,” said Mr Wesley. “All you will get from him will be a derisive smile.”
