International House will be a Hall of Residence in the University grounds for the purpose of housing approximately 150 students, male and female, half Australian and half overseas, and in addition to act as a centre for nonresident members. It will also have a small amount of accommodation for special overseas visitors. Its aims briefly are to provide residential accommodation, educational facilities, involving tutorial arrangements, and social opportunities for the fostering of good international relations. In the first, few years the Director will spend much of his time in the financing building and organising of the house. He will also act as Executive Officer of the Council. Applicants must possess a University degree, and preferably have had experience in a University or a University Hall of Residence.

Salary, depending on qualifications and experience, will be within the range £3,245 (£lOO increments), £3,745 per annum plus cost of living adjustments (at present £l6 p.a.). The Director will be appointed by the Senate in the first instance for three years, continuing thereafter subject to termination by at least 6 months’ notice by either side.
