CITY YOUTH WEEK

Programme In August

A youth week, organised by the Canterbury Regional Youth committee, will be held in Christchurch from Monday, August 24, to Friday, August 28. Although arrangements have not yet been completed, a programme has been planned and speakers invited. Peter Snell, the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. W. A. Pyatt), Barry Magee, Godfrey Bowen and Mr W. F. Brown, will be asked to speak. The proposed programme begins with a television panel of representatives of youth organisations on the Monday evening. On Tuesday there will be a youth assembly who will deal with the suggested topics of “Marriage and Dating,” and “Hire Purchase and Savings.” During the evening there will be a demonstration of some leisure activity and the function will conclude with a dance.

A radio programme “Youth’s Purpose in Life,” is planned for Wednesday. At a youth assembly on Thursday, “Work and Attitudes to Work,” and “Youth and Leisure” will be discussed.
