Prison Term Reduced
Mr Justice Wilson in the Supreme Court yesterday reduced a sentence <in Fraser Douglas Edgerton, aged 26 (Mr L. G. Holder), from one year’s imprisonment to six months’ imprisonment. Mr I. C. J. Polson appeared for the-Crown. Edgerton appealed against sentence on 33 charges Of false pretences and five of obtaining credit by fraud. In the Magistrate’s Court he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment bn three of the charges, two of the termsbeing concurrent and the third cumulative. On the other charges he. was convicted and discharged. His Honour said there was none of the really serious deceit usually associated with such cases, and the total effective sentence of 12 months’ imprisonment was excessive.
His Honour ordered ' that Edgerton serve a sentence of six months’ probation after his release from prison.
