Train Whistles At Crossings

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 17.

The proper sounding of train-warning whistles is redefined in a Government Railways Amendment Bill introduced and read a first time in Parliament today. Because the Supreme Court recently ruled that a train had to sound its hooter or whistle at a crossing, the Government has produced a clause making it clear that sounding a signal approaching a crossing will be acceptable as sufficient warning.
