FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—Anti-cyclones lie north-east of the North Island and over the south Tasman Sea. A slow-moving frontal trough lies over the South Island towards the north Tasman. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Light to, moderate southerly winds; partly cloudy, with fog areas at first, but clearing, with rising temperatures. Buller, Westland, Marlborough and Nelson.— Light or moderate east or south-east winds; partly cloudy, with scattered light rain at first, but clearing during the day; cool temperatures.
