After receiving his pri-

mary education at the Sisters of Mercy, St. Joseph’s, Papanui, he won a scholarship to Sacred Heart College, Auckland. and last year he gained a Junior National Scholarship. He will leave for Britain later this year. The Girdlers’ scholarship, awarded by the Worshipful Company of Girdlers in England. requires “all-round” qualities, and for this reason has been described as a junior Rhodes scholarship. Another Girdlers' scholarfrom Canterbury was Mr derson, who came from Martyn Sanderson. Mr SanTempleton, won the award in 1956 while an undergraduate at the University of Canterbury.
