U.K. Practice Followed

(N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 22. The appointment of an advisory committee on higher salaries in the State service was similiar to the British practice, established in 1957, when the Coleraine committee was formed, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said tonight, replying to a statement by the secretary of the Labourers’ Union (Mr P. M. Butler). “The situation is very similar to what we do in ruling rate surveys,” said Mr Holyoake. “Almost wholly, the salaries are agreed to by the employer authorities and the State service organisations.”
