Oil Refinery Progress

(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, May 22. The start-up process at the Marsden Point oil refinery was proceeding well and preparations for the production of the first finished products were about half-way, a spokesman for the New Zealand Refining Company said today. Intermediate products which still require further processing were now being produced.

The loading of calalysts into the reactors had been completed. These included a quantity of platinum catalyst valued at about £500,000, which is packed into the reformer. The catalysist now had to be dried out, a process which could take up to 72 hours.
